Buhl Mansion Guesthouse and Spa
Celebrates 10 Years “Inn” Award-Winning Style
Sharon, PA - - December 31, 2007 will mark the tenth anniversary for the award-winning Buhl Mansion Guesthouse and Spa. “New Year’s Eve overnight guests will be lavished with champagne, breakfast in bed and unsurpassed hospitality as the inn celebrates its first decade of providing romance, luxury and pampering to its guests from near and far,” says Laura Ackley, General Manager of the mansion.
With a grand history of romance, this Romanesque stone castle was built circa 1896 by steel baron Frank Buhl as a wedding present for his wife Julia. A century later in 1996, renowned entrepreneurs and philanthropists, Jim and Donna Winner saved the abandoned mansion from ruin. After millions of dollars and months of restoration, the grand landmark in Sharon, PA, now listed on the National Register of Historic Places, opened its doors to the public on New Year’s Eve 1997 as a luxury bed and breakfast and a world-class spa.
At an awards ceremony in Harrisburg earlier this year the Winners had the distinct honor of receiving the PA Tourism & Lodging Association’s Spirit of Hospitality Awards 2007 Innkeepers of the Year for both Buhl Mansion Guesthouse and Spa and its sister property Tara – A Country. This prestigious award recognizes outstanding performance commitment and achievements in the hospitality and tourism industry throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. The presentations were made by; William Kohl, CHA, CFBE, Chairman of the Board of Directors, PA Tourism & Lodging Association and J. Mickey Rowley, Deputy Secretary, Pennsylvania Tourism Office.
The Innkeeper of the Year award honors an innkeeper who has demonstrated professionalism in operating a B&B or country inn and has taken a leadership role in the unique lodging industry by actively participating in association, community, or industry programs. Innkeepers for over 30 years, the Winners have created a legacy for providing unparalleled experiences for their guests.
Buhl Mansion Guesthouse and Spa and Tara – A Country Inn, located 6 miles apart, operate in tandem offering a wide range of benefits to overnight visitors and day-trippers alike. While both inns offer spectacular overnight accommodations with fireplaces and Jacuzzis, Buhl Mansion also features luxury spa facilities and Tara boasts casual and gourmet dining. Both inns have the honor of belonging to Select Registry: Distinguished Inns of North America.
