SUMMER CONCERT SERIES BRINGS A VARIETY OF MUSIC TO MERCER COUNTY
Visitors to Enjoy Free Outdoor Fun with Festive Folk, Pop and Bluegrass Music Performances Throughout the Region

 

MERCER COUNTY, Pa. – July 7, 2011 –Outdoor concerts are a summertime tradition and visitors to Western Pennsylvania need to look no further than Mercer County for a wide array of free summer music.

Olde Town Grove City plays host to concerts every Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. throughout July in its “Downtown Summer Sounds” series, located in Joseph D. Monteleone Youth Festival Park in Grove City, Pa. On July 14, Marla Voltz, an original Folk Rock artist, performs. Beatlemania once again fills the air on July 21 when local band Beatle Mania Magic performs top hits from the world-renowned English music group. The Downtown Summer Sounds series goes out with a bang on July 28 featuring mime artist Angela Settlemire, and Mercer County native and opera singer Zachary Luchette.

Relax and enjoy the scenery at Buhl Farm Park Performing Arts Center in Hermitage, Pa. with bi-weekly concerts on Sundays and Wednesdays at 6 and 6:30 p.m. The summer concert series features a wide variety of artists including upcoming performances by a Las Vegas-style show band called 2nd Avenue Project on July 13, bluegrass artists Allegheny Drifters on July 17, time-honored Irish band County Mayo on July 20 and “The Rich Little of Music” Randy Valez on July 24.

Cool down with ice cream socials and free summer concerts at Mercer Courthouse Square located in Mercer, Pa. The Mercer Community Band, which has performed at this location for more than 30 years, consists of more than 90 musicians coming from the tri-county area and eastern Ohio. The band performs weekly through July and into mid-August. Upcoming performances include “A Victorian Concert” on July 15, “Best of the Big Bands” on July 22 and “Hoorah for Hollywood” on July 29.
