A SOUTHERN TASTE OF TARA
Relive the "Golden Days" of grace, grandeur and the romance of
the antebellum South as it lives on at Tara. Your motorcoach travels
north through lovely farmlands to Tara in Clark, Pennsylvania, where
uncommon excellence and hospitality are still a way of life. At
Tara, you'll find the glorious days of the Old South still alive.
As you enter Tara for a guided tour, you'll feel you entered the
movie set of "Gone with the Wind," where excellence is the style
of life. Following your tour, you'll sit down to good old-fashioned
Southern cooking served family-style complete with real mashed potatoes
and homemade Southern dessert.
Before departing for home, stop at Reyers Shoes. Here you can
find almost any size, color or shape of shoe. Following this stop,
enjoy samples at Daffin's Candies with free time to shop for some
sweets for the sweet.
NATURE & WILDLIFE TOUR
The outdoors of Mercer County and neighboring counties are at their best during fall foliage...
Shenango River Lake The Seth Myers and Coonie Trails: Half mile, self-guided, interpretive nature trails, that invites visitors to learn about varied habitats and the relationship between plants, animals and man.
Linesville Fish Hatchery: Fish culture is a year-round business at the hatchery. Some fish are just two eyes and a wiggle, while others are real trophies. What you see will vary depending on when you visit.
Game Commission's Wildlife Learning Center: Allows people of all ages to learn about PA's wild birds and mammals and their habitat.
Linesville Spillway: So many fish fill the spillway that ducks walk on their backs.
SIGHT, SOUND & MOVEMENT TOUR
World War II Vehicle Museum & Learning Center: A large collection of authentic war artifacts, tanks and vehicles.
Harlansburg Station Museum of Transportation: Located in a replica train station. All forms of transportation are represented, including planes, buses, boats and bikes.
Debence Antique Music World Museum: See and hear over 100 old-time antique mechanical musical instruments, calliopes, Carousel Band, Organs, Music Boxes, Nickelodeons and Orchestions. This collection is showcased along with a wide range of antiques that have either musical or local significance. Lighting is provided by the DeBences' collection of over 40 Tiffany-style hanging lamps.
THE BLUE DOOR
A guided tour through the Amish Countryside allows you to see how the Amish live daily life. Also take the day to shop at some of the area's finest shops.
Spend the morning in New Wilmington exploring the many attractions:
The Apple Castle: A 5th generation family farm featuring jams, jellies, homemade donuts, and more.
The Cheesehouse: 60 cheeses, imported, domestic, and locally produced. Features specialty foods from around the world.
Country House Christmas Shop: A 160-year-old farm house filled with the Spirit of Christmas.
TOWN SQUARE
Victorian Village of Mercer: Enjoy touring Western Pennsylvania's picturesque Victorian village of Mercer which focuses on the romantic turn-of-the-century era. The village includes the Revolutionary & Civil War cemetery, a one-room schoolhouse (narrative available; must be prearranged), and tours of Victorian homes.
Enjoy lunch at The Mercer Mercantile and Soda Shoppe.
Courthouse Square: Enjoy the afternoon shopping at the many gift and specialty shops on the Courthouse Square.
The Mercer Mercantile and Soda Shoppe: Take a step back in time when the local soda shoppe was the gathering place in town and enjoy an ice cream soda.
During the afternoon, a short drive to Main Street Volant, brings you to a quaint town that holds more Amish treasures. Enjoy the remainder of the afternoon shopping in the many craft and specialty shops.
