2008 AMATEUR PHOTO CONTEST

“A picture is worth a thousand words.”  We hope so and here’s your chance to show us!  The Mercer County Convention and Visitors Bureau is seeking photos to help us promote our beautiful county.  Photos can range from snapshots of your friends and family having a blast at local festivals or attractions to visits to historical sites or scenic landscape pictures.  The possibilities are endless!  MOST IMPORTANTLY…BE CREATIVE! PICTURES OF PEOPLE HAVING FUN AT A SITE IS A LOT MORE INTERESTING THAN A PICTURE OF A BUILDING.

Here’s a sample of some of the pictures we are looking for:

*   People enjoying local attractions and other sites around the county (i.e. Pymatuning Deer

Park, Lake Wilhelm, Wineries, etc.)

*   Children enjoying the areas offerings

*   Festivals, Fairs, Concerts, or other Mercer County Events

*   Action or Outdoor recreational shots (hunting, fishing, swimming, boating,

      biking, hiking, skydiving, etc.)

*   Seasonal and scenic shots (spring colors, fall foliage, etc.)

*   Mercer County’s countryside and its features

*   Places (Downtowns, Shops, Avenue of Flags, etc.)

                            GUIDELINES

*Entrants must be at least 18 years of age,

*Only photos taken in Mercer County, PA will be considered.

*A maximum of three entries may be submitted per entrant.

*Entries must be sized 8 X 10 and in color.  Digital backup is required to ensure quality reproduction of the photos.

*Images may not be altered, though removal of date stamp is preferred.

*A completed entry form must accompany each photograph submitted.

*Each photo and CD must be labeled with the following information:

              Photographer’s name, address, phone number, and/or email address;

              Location of photo (be specific)

              Exact or approximate date photo was taken.

*No photos will be returned.  The Mercer County Convention and Visitors Bureau reserves the non-exclusive right to use any photograph(s) in publications or for promotional purposes.

*MCCVB staff members and their immediate families are excluded from entry.

* Photos submitted may have been taken in any year.

*Winning photos will be awarded cash prizes in the following amounts:

1st Place - $150.00

2nd Place -$ 75.00

3rd Place - $  50.00

Deadline for submission is Thursday, November 20, 2008.  Winners will be chosen and notified no later than Thursday, December 18, 2008.

By signing below, the Applicant hereby agrees that all photographs submitted shall become the property of the MCCVB.  The MCCVB reserves the non-exclusive right to use any photograph(s) in publications or for promotional purposes.  By signing this application, the Applicant also acknowledges that any persons appearing in submitted photograph(s) have given the applicant and the MCCVB consent for reproduction and promotional use.  The Applicant also acknowledges being at least 18 years of age.
